CONFESSION IN THE LUTHERAN CHURCH The penitent begins by saying: Please hear my confession and pronounce forgiveness in order to fulfill God's will.I, a poor sinner, plead guilty before God of all sins. I have lived as if God did not matter and as if I mattered most. My Lord's name I have not honored as I should; my worship and prayers have faltered. I have not let God's Love have its way with me, and so my love for others has failed. There are those whom I have hurt, and those whom I have failed to help. Prayers of Confession and Pardon
|
O my God, I now decide to repent...to
act contrite
- I am sorry from the depths of my soul, for ever having offended You.
- I hate all of my sin,all of my turning
from You, all of my looking elsewhere.
- I hate the loss of Your grace. I hate the loss of the look of Your face. I
detest the experience of that loss. I miss the experience of that look. It is hell. It is painful. I could never accept it
forever.
- You are Goodness Itself. You deserve all of my love, all that I am.
- I resolve now with the return
of Your Grace: To see Thee more clearly; To love Thee more dearly and; To follow Thee more nearly.
